How to use TeamViewer

What is TeamViewer?

TeamViewer is software used for Internet-based remote access and support.  TeamViewer allows our IT support team to connect and control our client’s computers as if we were sitting in front of them.  TeamViewer is very useful when you need assistance.  Rest assured, your remote session is secure because it is done over an "https://" secure connection.

You should already have TeamViewer installed on your computer. You can find the icon in your computer system tray.  The system tray is located in the task bar, usually at the bottom next to the clock and contains miniature icons for easy access to system functions.

To open TeamViewer click on its icon in the system tray.  You may need to first click on the up arrow to view all mini icons in the system tray.

This will open a popup window with an ID and password.

Once you have relayed this information to your IT partner, a pop-up message will appear on your desktop asking you to grant access to your support partner.  In order to allow your IT partner access, you will need to click on the "Show Screen" button.

You may also get prompted to allow your IT partner to view and control your desktop.  In order to allow your IT partner access, you will need to click on the "Allow" button.

Once connected, you will see a TeamViewer tab on the bottom right-hand side of the screen.  Clicking on it will open a menu.  Menu options include functions for chat, file sharing, video conferencing and more.  You may close the session at any time by clicking on the X.

If you don't have TeamViewer installed on your machine, go to the TeamViewerAdminIT page.  You can click on the link and install TeamViewer on your computer.
