Upgrade to the Microsoft 365 version of Office

The Microsoft 365 version of Office is now available for installation via the UC Davis Self-Service Application.

Admin IT Client Services is already installing this version of Office on new computers. To see which version of Office you are running, in any Office application such as Outlook, go to File > Office account.

To get the Microsoft 365 version of Office today, follow our guide for the UC Davis Self-Service Application and select Install Microsoft Office 365 for Windows (Current Version).

One main difference between the Microsoft 365 version of Office, technically called Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise, and previous versions of Office, such as Office 2019, is that upon startup of any Office application, you will be required to sign into the product with your UC Davis email address in order to license the product. This will only occur once.

End meetings early or start late

Another benefit with upgrading to the Microsoft 365 version of Office you can now have Outlook automatically schedule your meetings to end a few minutes early or start late. This can help you build in travel time between meetings. You can choose a different duration for meetings under one hour and meetings over one hour. How to end meetings early or start late

With the Microsoft 365 version of Office, in Outlook, an “External” tag or message will appear on emails that originated from outside of the ucdavis.edu domain.
